Shakespeare's Globe is closing its summer season with a new production of 'As You Like It'. The play, directed by Sean Holmes and Charlie Josephine, is noted for its distinctive staging and musical elements.
The production features a unique approach to scenery, with artists painting the Forest of Arden backdrop live on stage each night. Actors are dressed in 'Bridgerton-style finery', including pastel satins and frilly collars, and enter the stage directly from the yard.
Musical director Katie Richardson has reimagined the play's five songs in a folksy, traditional style, contributing a "frantic, frenetic energy" to the forest scenes. Richardson also performs live on drums from a balcony perch above the set.
