Six projects across England are set to redesign health and care services, backed by £1.5 million in funding from the Office for the Impact Economy. This initiative is part of an innovative neighbourhood health investment partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support and Social Finance.
The selected sites will develop and test new neighbourhood health models, aiming to integrate NHS services, councils, community organisations, and local people. The goal is to improve outcomes and address health inequalities, with the potential for these approaches to be expanded more widely in the future.
Dame Diana Johnson, Minister of State for Health, stated that neighbourhood health focuses on bringing services closer to home, helping people receive appropriate care at the right time. Minister of State Stephanie Peacock added that the trailblazers demonstrate how government, local services, communities, and impact investors can collaborate to build a healthier nation and stronger local economies.
Macmillan Cancer Support has pledged to invest £250 million in neighbourhood health across the UK over the next three to five years. Gemma Peters, Chief Executive of Macmillan Cancer Support, expressed anticipation for these six sites to become the foundation for a larger initiative, redesigning care around people's lives.
