Soho House's Shoreditch venue is currently under investigation by Hackney Council following serious allegations from a former chef. Kamran Khan, who previously worked at the private members' club, claimed he was pressured to re-label prepared food that had not sold at the end of the day and regularly observed rats on the premises.
Khan, 30, told BBC News he raised concerns informally in July and then formally with Soho House. He alleged that despite assurances from the company that steps were being taken, the practice continued, leading him to report the matter to Hackney Council.
Soho House has stated that the food incident was isolated and that re-labelling unsold food is not company policy. They added that Khan's contract termination in September, two months after he first raised concerns, was for reasons unrelated to his complaints. The company did not comment on the claims regarding rats.
