Solheim Cup: USA and Europe level at 8-8 after dramatic day two

The Solheim Cup is tied at 8-8 between Europe and the United States after day two, with a 12-match shoot-out remaining.

  • The scores are level at 8-8 between Europe and the United States.
  • Jennifer Kupcho's performance helped the USA pull level.
  • Charley Hull and Lottie Woad failed to secure significant points for Europe.

The Solheim Cup is finely poised at 8-8 after a dramatic second day, with Europe and the United States heading into a 12-match shoot-out. Jennifer Kupcho's heroics in fading light dashed Europe’s hopes of taking a lead.

European captain Anna Nordqvist's decision to pair Charley Hull and Lottie Woad for four sessions on Saturday created history, making them the first duo to play together four times in the same Solheim Cup. However, this tactic did not yield significant points for Europe, with the English pair losing both their matches on Saturday.

Despite this, Europe managed to keep pace, with Maja Stark and Linn Grant securing a notable victory against Allisen Corpuz and world No 1 Nelly Korda. Leona Maguire and Esther Henseleit also reunited successfully, defeating Jennifer Kupcho and Rose Zhang.

The US team needs six points from the remaining 12 matches to retain the trophy, while Europe requires six and a half points to reclaim it. Momentum is currently with the visitors.
