Indie band Sports Team has unveiled their new single, 'Billy', which they characterise as a "love letter to getting desperately, insanely drunk at a carpeted pub on a Tuesday night." This release marks their first new music since their third album, 'Boys These Days', and the subsequent single 'Medium Machine', both released last May.
Songwriter Rob Knaggs commented that the recording process for 'Billy' at RAK studios over the summer felt like a return to the band's approach for their debut album, describing it as "Fast, and loose and loud." Frontman Alex Rice's lyrics in the track include, "Fuck you billy/ Where is this going," and "You know your dad’s at the bar/ And he keeps calling for shots/The lights in the bathroom are whiter than heaven."
Sports Team is also set to begin their 'DIY Alive' UK tour later this month. The tour will commence in Southampton on September 22, with further dates in cities including Newcastle and Nottingham, before concluding in London on October 3.
