Squeeze cancelled their show in Vienna, Virginia, on Thursday, September 3, following the “tragic” death of a crew member. The band was scheduled to perform as part of their US tour with Adam Ant and Haircut 100.

In a statement, Squeeze confirmed the gig was called off hours before doors opened at the Wolf Trap National Park For The Performing Arts. They shared that they were “deeply saddened and shocked by an incident that occurred at the venue earlier today, which resulted in the loss of a life.”

Police reportedly told Fox 5 that a road crew member was crushed to death in the venue’s car park when the tour bus they were working on collapsed. The incident was reportedly caused by the apparatus holding the vehicle malfunctioning. The victim has not yet been named.

The band stated that the decision to cancel was made after discussions with the venue and relevant authorities. They added that they would work with the promoter and venue regarding rescheduling the show and would communicate further information to ticket holders when available.

The tour is scheduled to continue in Ohio today, Friday, September 4, with further shows planned across the US throughout the month. Squeeze is also set to tour the UK with Billy Bragg in November and December, including a performance at The O2 in London on November 26.
