Vancouver quartet Piss will release their debut album, 'You Made Me / Skin on Linen', in October through Sub Pop. The band, formed in 2024, has built its reputation on uncompromising live performances that confront sexual violence.
Their music is a blend of hardcore, poetry, sound collage, and performance art, revolving around singer Taylor Zantingh’s experiences. The album was recorded in winter 2024 and aims to replicate the band's live experience.
Piss's live shows, which include a trigger warning, feature drummer Garreth Roberts, bassist Gavin Moya, and guitarist Tyler Paterson performing noise-punk, interspersed with audio samples. Zantingh's performance is described as an intense narrative of gender-based violence, presented as lived experience rather than entertainment.
The band is currently touring, with performances scheduled at Brighton Psych fest on 4 September and End of the Road on 6 September, followed by a North American and European tour.
