Stephen King's 1980 horror short story 'Crouch End' is set to be adapted into a six-part TV series for Prime Video. The series, which takes its title from the north London district where it is set, will be the first King adaptation produced in the United Kingdom.
The narrative follows international film star Doris Freeman, who tells police that a strange phenomenon is behind her husband's disappearance. Police inspector Ted Vetter investigates whether she is telling the truth, if she could be a murderer, or if something more chilling is at play.
Paul Tomalin, known for his work on Bodies, is adapting the series, while Stephen King "superfan" Tom Shankland, known for The Children and The Serpent, will direct. Nicole Clemens, vice president of International Originals at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, stated that the show aims to "grip audiences worldwide with its visceral crime thriller and supernatural mystery."
