An orchestra made up of students from London’s Royal Academy of Music and New York’s Juilliard School recently performed at the Proms. The ensemble, brought together by an exchange scheme funded by RAM alumnus Elton John, was led by conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen.

Salonen conducted the players through three 20th-century works, including Stravinsky’s Symphony in Three Movements. Vilde Frang performed as the soloist in Berg’s Violin Concerto, with the orchestra also playing Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra.

The performance concluded with an encore of the Galop from Stravinsky’s Suite No 2.
