Students across the south of England are celebrating their GCSE results, with several schools reporting their best-ever performances. Many schools in the region noted particularly strong results in English and maths.
Among those celebrating were quadruplets Ellen, Eric, Layla and Rose Lamb, who picked up their results together at Aureus School in Didcot. Ellen secured a place at Oxford City College, while Eric will study dance, and Rose and Layla will pursue A-levels.
Highdown School and Sixth Form Centre in Reading achieved its best GCSE results in its history, with nearly 40% of entries awarded grades 7 to 9. Ellie Chan notably achieved 11 Grade 9s.
In Bournemouth, 16-year-old Hope balanced her GCSE studies with caring for her brother and part-time work. She achieved five GCSEs at grades 4 and 5, including in English and maths, and will now study Level 3 Business at Bournemouth College.
Daniel, a student at The Priory School in Portsmouth, is planning to pursue a professional basketball career in the US despite achieving several 7s and a 6 in his GCSEs.
