A teenager who was blinded by a firework on Bonfire Night has called for a ban on their sale to the public. Tom Parnaby was 18 when he and a friend were badly injured in an accident on 5 November 2025.

Mr Parnaby is now campaigning for more controlled firework displays and stricter regulations on sales. He stated that while he does not hate fireworks, he believes the "public sale of them is crazy".

Less than a year after losing his sight, Mr Parnaby is preparing to run the 2027 London Marathon with his mother, Danni, as his guide. They will be raising money for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), a charity that provided him with support.
