The 2026 Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase, held last night, unveiled a significant remaster for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This free upgrade, scheduled for September 29, will introduce various visual, performance, and gameplay enhancements. Players will also gain free access to the Hearts Of Stone and Blood And Wine DLCs before the upcoming Songs Of The Past expansion, which is expected next year.
During the event, a new trailer for The Witcher 3 DLC was released, showcasing the new region of Letten. A press release described this area as rich in rural tradition and folklore, but with a hidden dark secret that Geralt must confront.
Other announcements included the viral game Mewgenics, which is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on September 8. Crimson Desert is also receiving an "enhanced" update today, August 26, to address campaign storyline issues, adding new cutscenes, story moments, and voiceover support in several languages.
Further reveals included a new trailer for the Gears Of War prequel E-Day, detailing its campaign mode and origin story for characters Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago, ahead of its October 6 release. Angela Sant’Albano, known as Grace Ashcroft from Resident Evil: Requiem, was announced as the star of Tides of Annihilation, a new fantasy-action game set in a dystopian London.
New trailers were also shown for Silent Hill: Townfall (September 24, 2026), Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy (August 27), Control Resonant (September 24), and Sea Of Remnants (early 2027). HoyoHerse, developers of Genshin Impact, previewed Nodus Fall, a mature fantasy RPG with co-op mode, though no release date was provided. Additionally, Rayman 30th anniversary celebrations will include the new game Legends Retold in October, featuring four musical stages. Lego Skylines, a new city-builder, was also announced, offering a customizable experience without a release date. Guitar Hero's spiritual successor, Stage Tour, is set to launch later this year with over 90 songs.
