Tottenham Fail to Score in Opening Four League Games for First Time

Tottenham have not scored in their first four league matches, a club first, and have not drawn blanks in four consecutive Premier League games for two decades.

  • Tottenham have failed to score in their opening four league games for the first time.
  • Only four players from last season's squad, who played at least half of the league minutes, have featured in 2026-27.
  • Manager Roberto De Zerbi has made 12 changes to his starting lineups in the league since the first match, more than any other manager in the division.

Tottenham have failed to score in their opening four league games, marking a club first. This also represents the first time in two decades that Spurs have drawn blanks in four consecutive Premier League matches.

Player turnover is cited as a contributing factor, with only four players who featured in at least half of last season's league minutes appearing in the current 2026-27 season. Richarlison, who contributed 15 goals last season, has been omitted from the Premier League squad.

Manager Roberto De Zerbi has made 12 changes to his starting lineups in the league since the first match, the highest number in the division. Injuries have also impacted the squad, with players like Micky van de Ven, Domi Solanke, James Maddison, and Mateus Fernandes suffering setbacks, some during pre-season tours.

Despite getting the ball into dangerous areas, Tottenham are struggling to convert chances. They lead the Premier League in completed take-ons but only a small fraction result in a shot or chance created. Similarly, while recording many high turnovers, they have produced few shots from these opportunities.
