Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a further £120m in capital from the Lewis family, who run the club's majority owner, Enic. This latest financial boost means the family has invested around £320m into the club over the past 12 months, including a £100m injection earlier this summer.
The summer investment saw the Lewis family's shareholding in Tottenham rise to approximately 88%. Daniel Levy, who stepped down as executive chairman last September, saw his stake reduce from 29.88% to about 27% after declining to contribute proportionally. It is currently unknown if Levy will be involved in this latest move, which could further dilute his holding to around 25%.
This capital injection follows a busy summer transfer window where Tottenham spent over £300m, breaking their transfer record twice. The club signed Mateus Fernandes for £85m and Sandro Tonali for £100m, alongside Manchester City duo Savio and Omar Marmoush, and defender Jan Paul van Hecke for over £50m. Defensive trio Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Tosin Adarabioyo also joined, as did goalkeeper Martin Dubravka and Mykhailo Mudryk.
Despite the significant investment and new signings, Tottenham's fortunes have yet to turn around. The team has not scored a single goal in their opening four Premier League matches this season, following goalless draws against Nottingham Forest and Everton, and losses to Brentford and Newcastle. They were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Liverpool, suffering a 3-1 defeat at Anfield on Tuesday night. Tottenham are scheduled to host Aston Villa on Saturday.
