Toulouse Olympique's place in Super League for the upcoming season has been secured, with earlier rumours of their potential relegation now dismissed. This comes after the newly promoted team finished eighth in the table, notably placing above rivals Catalans Dragons for the first time in 25 years, despite operating on half the central funding.
NRL head of strategy, Shane Richardson, stated that the goal is to expand rugby league's presence in France, not diminish it. This confirmation follows a season where Super League matches, including those featuring Toulouse and Catalans, were not shown on French television, with only French team games live-streamed on Rugbyrama's website.
Journalist Esteban Raña expressed hope that Dazn might acquire the rights to broadcast Super League in France, potentially bringing matches back to French TV screens by February. Toulouse coach Sylvain Houles, who is many people's choice for coach of the year, has been praised for his team's performance, winning more matches than established Super League clubs.
