The 2026 Tour of Britain Women is scheduled to start in Cumbria on Wednesday. This year's race begins after the death of Welsh rider Finlay Tarling, 19, who was involved in a collision with a non-race vehicle during the eighth stage of the Volta a Portugal last Friday.
Police investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing. Tributes are expected to be paid to Tarling, who was described as a bright young star in British cycling.
The five-day race will travel through Cumbria, the north-west, Wales, and the Borders, before concluding next Sunday in Royal Leamington Spa. The starting lineup includes stage winners Kim Le Court and Lorena Wiebes, as well as former world road race champion Lotte Kopecky.
