Troy Parrott scores Champions League winner for Real Betis against Lille

Troy Parrott marked his Champions League debut by scoring the winning goal for Real Betis in a 3-2 victory over 10-man Lille. The Republic of Ireland striker, who joined the Spanish club from Dutch side AZ this summer, completed his side’s comeback in the 54th minute with a low left-footed shot.

This decisive goal came just four days after Parrott scored an 81st-minute winner for Real Betis in a 1-0 victory against Real Madrid in Sevilla. The 24-year-old had come off the bench within 15 minutes of scoring that goal.

In the Champions League match, French side Lille initially took the lead in the 12th minute and then regained it through Alexsandro in the 37th minute. Marc Bartra scored two goals for Real Betis either side of Lille's second. Lille finished the match with 10 players after Ethan Mbappe was sent off for an elbow to an opponent's face.

Elsewhere in the Champions League, Kylian Mbappe was on the scoresheet as Real Madrid secured an opening win against Inter Milan. Jose Mourinho also marked his return to the competition at the Bernabeu with a victory over one of his former clubs.
