  • West Ham achieved their third consecutive league win, topping the Championship table.

  • Daniel Kretinsky is now chairman, with an anticipated 46% stake in the club.

West Ham have climbed to the top of the Championship after securing their third successive league victory, a feat not achieved since December 2023. Skipper Jarrod Bowen was instrumental in the win against Bolton, scoring early and then securing victory late in a five-goal thriller.

The club has undergone significant changes off the pitch, with Czech billionaire and Royal Mail owner Daniel Kretinsky now serving as chairman. He is intended to become the biggest shareholder with 46% of the club. Karim Virani has also made a positive impression as chief executive, engaging with supporters on issues including the club's badge.

Former chairman David Sullivan, who resigned in June, is anticipated to end up with 40% of the club, according to an agreement announced on 3 September. Director of football Nils Koppen now holds influence in recruitment discussions, which are described as a transparent affair. The summer transfer window saw 12 players sold and nine new arrivals, including Arne Engels for an EFL record £22m and Edvin Austbo for an initial £10m.

Despite these changes, uncertainty remains regarding the intentions of Amanda Staveley, whose deal with former co-chair Vanessa Gold in July triggered a pre-emption rights process. Manager Nuno expressed optimism for the season, highlighting the unity he feels across all departments of the club.

Why this matters: The club's strong start to the season and significant structural changes could signal a new era for West Ham following their relegation last May.
