Two world records were shattered at the Diamond League meeting in Zurich on Thursday. Brazil's Alison dos Santos set a new best of 45.80 seconds in the men's 400m hurdles, surpassing Karsten Warholm's previous record. American Masai Russell also made history, lowering the women's 100m hurdles record to 12.09 seconds, eclipsing Tobi Amusan's 2012 time.
British athletes Amy Hunt and Georgia Hunter Bell competed in strong fields. Hunt, a four-time European Championships gold medallist, finished fifth in the 100 metres with a time of 11.04 seconds. The race was won by Olympic champion Julien Alfred in 10.70 seconds. Hunt expressed satisfaction with her performance, telling the BBC, "To come fifth in that line-up – I think I had the slowest season’s best coming in and obviously very, very tired legs – I’m really happy with that."
In the women's 800m, Georgia Hunter Bell secured third place, running a season's best of 1 minute 55.03 seconds. Audrey Werro won the event, lowering her personal best to 1 minute 53.70 seconds, just 0.42 seconds shy of the world record. Mondo Duplantis triumphed in the men's pole vault with a 6.25m vault, though he narrowly missed a new world record of 6.32m.
