The UK is investing an additional £1.5 million this year into initiatives aimed at countering organised crime. This announcement was made by Alex Davies-Jones MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, at the United Nations Crime Congress today, 28 September 2026.
During her speech, Ms Davies-Jones outlined several commitments for the period between 2026 and 2031. These include providing financial support to dismantle transnational scam compounds in Southeast Asia and strengthening the collective response to fraud. The UK also plans to build capacity across Ukraine’s justice system, encompassing prisons, probation, and rehabilitation, alongside continued support for law enforcement and criminal justice reform.
Domestically, the UK will launch a call for evidence on online misogynistic image-based abuse to identify new harms and appropriate responses. Furthermore, the government intends to introduce effective protections on phones and tablets to prevent children from taking, sharing, or viewing nude images, with legislation to secure compliance if necessary.
Internationally, the UK will continue to support the UNODC’s Global Programme on Implementing the Organized Crime Convention and will host the first ever Hague Conference Working Group meeting in London later this year to strengthen international cooperation for protecting survivors who cross borders.
