The Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) published its intended final determination and recommendation for remedies in its anti-dumping investigation into boom lifts from China on Monday, 5 October.
The investigation found evidence that boom lift imports from China are being dumped in the UK market, causing or currently causing injury to the UK industry. The TRA's interim findings suggest an anti-dumping measure should be implemented, with duties potentially reaching 82.89%.
Boom lifts, also known as cherry pickers, are aerial work platforms used across various UK sectors, including construction, maintenance, and installation. The TRA's analysis indicated that Chinese boom lift import prices undercut the UK industry by over 25%.
Following an Economic Interest Test, the TRA decided that the anti-dumping measure serves the UK's economic interest. The authority intends to recommend this remedy to the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade. Provisional anti-dumping measures on these imports were previously imposed by the UK Government on 20 August 2026, based on a TRA recommendation.
