The US Coast Guard is currently searching for an air ambulance jet that lost contact with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) early on Saturday morning. The Canadian-registered Gulfstream G-100 was en route from Bermuda to Boston with six people onboard.
The FAA issued a search-and-rescue alert notice for the aircraft at approximately 1.20am local time on Saturday. The jet had four crew members and two passengers, according to Skyport, the operator of Bermuda’s LF Wade international airport.
The aircraft was undertaking a medical evacuation in Bermuda, as reported by NBC News, citing Latitude Air Ambulance, the operator of the aircraft. The Massachusetts port authority confirmed the aircraft did not arrive as scheduled at Boston Logan international airport.
The search area, as of Saturday morning, is off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts. Air and surface crews have been deployed in the search for the aircraft.
