Valencia have announced the dismissal of manager Carlos Corberan and chief executive officer Ron Gourlay on Sunday. The decision follows a challenging start to the current campaign, which has seen the club collect just one point from their first five matches, placing them at the bottom of LaLiga.
Corberan, who took the helm in December 2024, initially guided Valencia away from relegation to a 12th-place finish. Despite finishing ninth last season, his style of play drew criticism from supporters, with chants of 'Corberan leave now' reportedly heard during recent home games.
Ron Gourlay, who joined Valencia in May 2025, had publicly defended Corberan on several occasions. In addition to Corberan's coaching staff, the club has also ended the contracts of four staff members working under Gourlay. Valencia stated that this decision reflects their intention to begin a new phase for the running of the sporting structure and football operations.
VCF Mestalla coach Oscar Sanchez will assume control of the first team on an interim basis. Valencia confirmed that details regarding their new sporting structure and upcoming sporting project will be released shortly. The team's next fixture is scheduled for Tuesday against Deportivo Alaves.
