Kimi Antonelli claimed victory at the Spanish Grand Prix held at the new Madring circuit, further extending his lead in the Formula 1 title race. The Mercedes driver now holds an 81-point advantage over his team-mate George Russell.

World champion Lando Norris, who started from pole position, was leading the race but lost ground during a virtual safety car period, ultimately finishing third. Red Bull's Max Verstappen secured second place, completing the podium.

Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari retired early due to a brake failure. The seven-time world champion has fallen further behind title leader Antonelli but remains third in the standings. Liam Lawson delivered another strong performance for Red Bull, finishing sixth in the continued absence of Isack Hadjar.

Franco Colapinto had one of his best Formula 1 weekends, putting his Alpine into Q3 and then driving to seventh in the race. Oscar Piastri, his McLaren team-mate, had a difficult weekend, finishing eighth after first-lap contact damaged his car.
