Wakefield Trinity have completed a remarkable journey by winning their first Super League title, triumphing over Warrington Wolves with a 23-10 victory in the Grand Final. This historic win marks their first major trophy in nearly six decades, with their last championship dating back to 1968.

Just two years ago, Wakefield was a Championship club, having been relegated in 2023. Their swift return to Super League and subsequent championship victory makes them only the sixth different team to win the competition.

Daryl Powell's side, making their first-ever Grand Final appearance, dominated the match, leading 19-0 at half-time. Lachlan Walmsley set up Cam Scott for an early try, followed by Isaiah Vagana touching down after a Tom Johnstone assist. Jazz Tevaga also scored, and Jack Sinfield added a drop goal before the break.

Warrington managed a brief second-half response, with Arron Lindop scoring twice, but Wakefield maintained control. Johnstone secured his second try, restoring a commanding lead for Trinity, who ultimately closed out the game with ease.

Why this matters: This victory represents a significant turnaround for Wakefield Trinity, who were a Championship club two years ago and had not won a major trophy since 1968.
