Wardogs, a new first-person shooter, launched in Early Access yesterday, September 10, and has already sold over 1.25 million copies, according to developers Bulkhead. The game, described as a rival to Call Of Duty and Battlefield, saw a significant launch despite initial server problems.
The game reached a concurrent player peak of 340,000 on Steam, with over 180,000 players currently online. Bulkhead's servers were reportedly overwhelmed by the launch, leading to the game being taken offline for a restart and the implementation of a player queue to maintain stability.
Despite these early issues, Wardogs currently holds a "mostly positive" review score on Steam from more than 16,000 players. Bulkhead intends to keep the game in Early Access for one to two years, during which they plan to expand and refine it with additional maps, weapons, vehicles, and gameplay variety.
