Weekend rail closures will hit West Wales passengers for the next six weeks as Network Rail carries out major upgrades on the line between Whitland and Pembroke Dock.
Bus replacement services will run on Saturdays and Sundays throughout June on the 8th-9th, 15th-16th, and 22nd-23rd, with further closures planned for 6th-7th and 13th-14th July. Passengers are advised to check with Transport for Wales before travelling.
The comprehensive upgrade programme includes renewing sections of track and extensive vegetation management. Network Rail crews are clearing trees and overgrown foliage from alongside the railway, which can cause delays and pose risks during adverse weather.
The investment forms part of a broader commitment to enhancing rail infrastructure across West Wales. Network Rail has scheduled the most disruptive work during weekends to minimise inconvenience for daily commuters using the vital route.
Officials say the upgrades will improve reliability and passenger experience on the line, which serves communities throughout Pembrokeshire. The track renewal work aims to reduce faults and delays, providing more consistent services for the thousands of passengers who rely on the route.
The improvements are designed to ensure the region's railway network remains fit for purpose for years to come, supporting both daily commuters and the economic activity of communities served by the line.
