Keath Ósk, the Icelandic-Filipino artist known for the Yaelokre project, has released their debut album, "Foreword," under their own name. The album features 11 rerecorded original tracks and a cover of Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out for a Hero." Ósk, who moved to London earlier this year, also sings in Tagalog on the album, stating a desire to represent their origins.

Ósk's Yaelokre project gained significant attention in summer 2024 when the song "Harpy Hare" became a TikTok hit and reached No 1 on Spotify’s Global Viral Songs chart. The project, which started as a school assignment, has since garnered almost three million monthly Spotify listeners and led to a sell-out UK and Ireland tour last year.

Despite releasing music under their own name, Ósk has confirmed that new music involving the Yaelokre characters is also in the works. Ósk recently removed two characters from Meadowlark lore after they were sexualised by some fans, stating a commitment to keeping the community safe and wholesome.

Why this matters: The release marks a new chapter for the artist behind a project that has cultivated a significant following among Gen Z and queer listeners.
