France, under new coach Zinedine Zidane, plays Italy in their first home Nations League game. Zidane has secured two away wins, while Italy seeks to improve their campaign.

  • Zinedine Zidane is managing his first home game for France in the Nations League.
  • France has previously secured 1-0 away wins against Belgium and Turkey.
  • Italy, managed by Roberto Mancini, defeated Turkey 4-1 after a 2-0 loss to Belgium.

France's new coach, Zinedine Zidane, is set to lead his team in their first home Nations League match against Italy today, 2 October 2026. The game, kicking off at 7.45pm BST, takes place at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.

Zidane has enjoyed a strong start to his tenure, securing two 1-0 away victories against Belgium and Turkey. This marks his first encounter with Italy since 9 July 2006.

Italy, under Roberto Mancini in his second spell, began their Nations League campaign with a 2-0 home defeat to Belgium. However, they bounced back with a convincing 4-1 win against Turkey on Tuesday.

With only a third of Nations League Group A1 played, the competition for the second quarter-final spot appears to be a tight contest between Belgium and Italy.
