A new £370 million deal will see Kuwait acquire British-built AI-enabled air defence systems, leading to the creation of 100 new jobs in the UK. The contract, awarded to MARSS Systems Limited, an EOS company, will support skilled engineering and manufacturing roles.
MARSS will provide and integrate an advanced air defence system for Kuwait, which includes jammers, radars, and interceptors, all linked to its NiDAR platform, an AI-enabled command and control centre. This system aims to enhance Kuwait's ability to detect, deter, and defeat airborne threats.
The deal is expected to expand MARSS's offices in the UK, with production activities centred in Bristol. Minister for Defence Readiness and Industry, Luke Pollard MP, stated that the deal demonstrates the UK's commitment to supporting regional partners and creating skilled jobs at home.
This contract is part of the UK’s Taskforce Sabre, which collaborates with government and industry to assist Gulf states in securing necessary defence systems and weapons. The initiative follows recent missile and drone attacks in the region.
