The inaugural Fair Work Assembly took place in Birmingham earlier this week, bringing together over 100 delegates to discuss employment rights enforcement and emerging labour market risks. The event also aimed to gather input for the future priorities of the Fair Work Agency (FWA).
Attendees included representatives from trade unions, employers, civil society organisations, and academia. They engaged in discussions with FWA Chief Executive Officer Lisa Pinney OBE and Matthew Taylor CBE, Chair of the Advisory Board.
Matthew Taylor CBE stated that a strong message from the day was the willingness of people to work collaboratively to tackle non-compliance and exploitation. Lisa Pinney OBE emphasised that building strong partnerships is fundamental to creating a fair labour market and that the Assembly marks the beginning of a conversation with stakeholders.
