Adil Rashid has been ruled out of England's one-day international series against Sri Lanka. The 38-year-old leg-spinner sustained an injury to his bowling hand while fielding on Saturday, during England's 3-0 T20 series clean sweep.
England's white-ball captain Harry Brook confirmed Rashid would miss the ODI series opener. Following a scan on Monday, the England and Wales Cricket Board stated Rashid will be absent for Thursday's match at Headingley and Sunday's game at the Kia Oval due to a "right hand injury".
Rashid, who is second on England's all-time ODI wicket-takers list with 243, will be replaced by Rehan Ahmed for the match at Chester-le-Street.
