Wales skipper Dewi Lake has been named Gloucester's new club captain for the 2026-27 season. The 27-year-old hooker, who joined the Cherry and Whites this season, will take on the armband after former captain Tomos Williams moved to Saracens this summer.
Lake has represented Wales 34 times and captained his country on 22 occasions, including during this summer's internationals. He joins fellow Wales captain Jac Morgan in moving to Gloucester ahead of the new campaign, marking their first appearances in the Prem.
Head coach George Skivington stated that the decision to name Williams' replacement was made after the team had spent a few weeks together. Skivington highlighted Lake's leadership experience and noted that the process included input from the entire playing group.
Lake expressed his honour at being named captain, citing the club's history and the talent within the squad. He also mentioned looking forward to leading the group with advice from existing strong leaders at the club.
