Great Britain is set to face Alexander Zverev's Germany in the Davis Cup quarter-finals this November. Leon Smith's side secured their place in the eight-team Finals, held in Bologna, with a decisive 4-0 victory over Ecuador at London's Copper Box over the weekend.
This marks Britain's first return to the end-of-season event since 2023, when they were eliminated by Novak Djokovic's Serbia. Germany, led by Alexander Zverev, who recently won his second Grand Slam title of the year at the US Open, presents a formidable challenge. Zverev's commitment to the competition was evident as he immediately joined Germany to defeat Croatia.
Germany also boasts a strong doubles team in US Open finalists Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz, though Zverev is their only top-50 singles player. Britain will be without Jack Draper, who has ended his season due to an ongoing arm problem, but hopes to have Arthur Fery and Cameron Norrie available.
Norrie was a late withdrawal against Ecuador due to a minor injury, but Fery and debutant Toby Samuel secured singles wins. Britain's doubles team of Henry Patten and Neal Skupski then sealed the overall victory. The Davis Cup Finals will run from November 24 to 29 at the SuperTennis Arena, with Britain potentially facing Spain or Austria if they overcome Germany.
