American Express has announced a partnership with the iconic St Andrews Links, further expanding its sports sponsorship portfolio. The credit card company's new deal places St Andrews Links alongside existing sponsorships with the NFL, Formula 1, Wimbledon, and Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion.
The agreement is set to provide American Express cardholders with access to tee times on the historic Old Course. However, the financial services firm has stated that this will not affect local residents' access to St Andrews.
Packages for fans are expected to be available starting in 2027, which is when St Andrews is scheduled to host the 155th Open Championship. Shiz Suzuki of American Express noted that golf and premium travel are key passions for their card members globally, highlighting St Andrews' legendary status.
James Ralley, commercial director for St Andrews Links Trust, expressed delight regarding the partnership, stating it will help introduce more golfers to St Andrews Links and support further investment into the "Home of Golf."
