Arsenal's initial offer for Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes has been turned down by the Magpies, with a significant difference in valuation reported.

  • Arsenal's opening bid for Bruno Guimaraes has been rejected by Newcastle.
  • Guimaraes is reportedly keen to move to Arsenal this summer.
  • Newcastle have already lost Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer.

Arsenal's initial offer for Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes has been rejected by the Magpies. Direct communication has been established between the two Premier League clubs regarding the Brazil international.

A notable disparity in valuation is believed to exist for the midfielder, who has scored 31 goals in 195 appearances for Newcastle since joining in January 2022. Despite the rejection, Arsenal are unlikely to be deterred, especially with indications that Guimaraes is keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Newcastle are reluctant to lose another key player, having already seen Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali depart for Barcelona and Tottenham respectively this summer. The club would only sanction a transfer if their financial terms are fully met.

Guimaraes is scheduled to join his Newcastle teammates at a pre-season training camp in La Manga on Monday, following an extended break after his World Cup commitments. Newcastle finished 12th in the Premier League last season and will not offer European football in the upcoming campaign.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are looking to strengthen their squad for their title defence, having signed only one outfield player, Christos Tzolis, this summer.
