Belle & Sebastian's 30th anniversary party just got a whole lot bigger! The Glasgow indie-pop legends have thrown open the doors to an expanded UK and European tour, inviting fans to join in the celebration of three decades since the release of their trailblazing debut albums, 'Tigermilk' and 'If You're Feeling Sinister'.
The original tour schedule was already shaping up to be a festival in itself – with double-header performances across Europe, the UK, and North America, where each album gets its own dedicated night. But now, fans can look forward to even more opportunities to immerse themselves in the band's eclectic sound. The new batch of dates kicks off on November 27, taking the Scottish five-piece to Athens, Rome, Munich, Frankfurt, and other European hotspots.
After their European escapades, Belle & Sebastian will bring their unique brand of indie-pop magic back home with a series of UK dates, culminating in a final show at Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall on December 21. Meanwhile, British cities like Nottingham, Norwich, Cardiff, Bristol, Bexhill-on-Sea, Liverpool, and Sheffield are all set to host the band, with each concert promising a slice of musical nostalgia as they perform classic tracks from across their discography.
For most of these newly announced shows, fans can expect a full performance of 'If You're Feeling Sinister', alongside other fan-favourite anthems. However, specific dates in Rotterdam, Nottingham, and Bristol will see the band revisit another beloved album – 'Tigermilk' – played in its entirety, with an added sprinkling of extra special tracks.
The pair's influential debut albums have become an integral part of UK indie heritage, earning them a dedicated following that spans generations. With ten more studio albums under their belt, including 2023's 'Late Developers', Belle & Sebastian continue to prove themselves as one of the country's most treasured independent acts.
Just when you thought it was all about the music, the Scottish band surprised everyone with a Scotland World Cup anthem – 'It Only Takes One Lion' – earlier this month. The song's release coincided with Scotland's thrilling 4-2 qualifying victory against Denmark and their subsequent first-ever World Cup finals win in 36 years against Haiti.
Tickets for these newly announced shows will go on sale to the general public at 9am BST on June 19, so be sure to mark your calendars and get ready to celebrate three decades of Belle & Sebastian's incredible music!
