Sheffield's Bring Me The Horizon has unveiled a '2026 Repented' version of their track 'Black & Blue', offering a glimpse into the forthcoming 20th-anniversary re-recording of their debut album, 'Count Your Blessings'. The reimagined LP is slated for release on July 10, promising a contemporary take on their foundational material.
The band has described this anniversary edition as a 'recontextualisation' of the original 2006 release, aiming to make it 'sharper, heavier, and more vital than ever'. Frontman Oli Sykes and guitarist Lee Malia spearheaded the re-recording of 'Black & Blue', with Buster Odeholm handling the mix. This new version reportedly retains the original's intensity while incorporating the grander, stadium-friendly production characteristic of their more recent work.
While the tracklist largely mirrors the original, one notable change sees 'Liquor & Lost Love' revert to its initial working title, 'Dragon Slaying'. The original 'Count Your Blessings' garnered a mixed reception upon its initial release, with NME in 2019 noting it 'attracted as much derision as it did celebration'. Sykes himself has previously reflected on the band's divisive nature during that period.
To coincide with the album's release, Bring Me The Horizon will perform 'Count Your Blessings' in its entirety, alongside other material from that era, at select UK shows this summer. These performances will be part of Outbreak Festival 2026, taking place at Manchester's BEC Arena on July 10 and 11. Support acts for these dates include Static Dress, Dying Wish, Rolo Tomassi, Heriot, Car Underwater, and Still In Love, with limited edition merchandise also available.
This announcement follows a busy period for the band, which saw their L.I.V.E. In São Paulo concert film screened in cinemas worldwide and subsequently released on streaming platforms. Co-directed by Sykes, the film was lauded as an 'immersive, multi-angle experience' and received a five-star review from NME. The band also recently commenced their 'Ascension Program 2' North American tour, featuring live debuts and the return of older tracks.
