Chelsea Women to play all WSL home games at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea Women will play all their Women's Super League home matches at Stamford Bridge for the first time this season, a significant change from previous years.

  • Chelsea Women will host all WSL home games at Stamford Bridge for the upcoming season.
  • Cup games will be played at AFC Wimbledon's Cherry Red Records stadium, increasing capacity to 9,000.
  • The club recorded a turnover of £21.3m for the year ending June 30, 2025.

Chelsea Women are set to make a significant shift for the upcoming season, announcing that all their Women's Super League home games will be played at Stamford Bridge for the first time. This move aims to grow the fanbase and boost matchday revenue.

For cup competitions, the team will utilise AFC Wimbledon’s Cherry Red Records stadium, which offers an expanded capacity of 9,000 fans, up from Kingsmeadow’s maximum of just under 5,000.

The club's financial figures for the year ending June 30, 2025, show a turnover of £21.3m, an increase from £11.5m in 2023-24. Broadcast revenue also rose from £1.7m to £2.27m, and matchday revenue increased from £2.69m to £3.01m. However, the club's loss after tax also jumped from £8.42m to £17.10m, partly due to the £12.08m purchase of Kingsmeadow.

On the pitch, Chelsea finished third last season and are predicted to finish third again by Guardian writers. Manager Sonia Bompastor, in her third pre-season, is overseeing a period of transition with several high-profile departures and new arrivals, including Katie McCabe from Arsenal.

Why this matters: The move to Stamford Bridge for all WSL home games could significantly increase Chelsea Women's matchday revenue and fan engagement, potentially accelerating the growth of women's football.

What this means for you: If you are a Chelsea Women's fan, you will now be able to watch all WSL home games at Stamford Bridge.
