Coventry City have completed the signing of Jamaica centre-back Ethan Pinnock from Brentford for an undisclosed fee, reportedly around £6m.

  • Ethan Pinnock, 33, made 216 appearances for Brentford, scoring 12 goals.
  • Pinnock was in the final year of his contract with Brentford.
  • This is Coventry's 10th signing this summer, with total spending over £100m.

Coventry City have bolstered their squad with the acquisition of Jamaica centre-back Ethan Pinnock from Brentford. The fee for the 33-year-old defender is undisclosed, though it is reported to be around £6m.

Pinnock, who joined Brentford in 2019 from Barnsley, made a total of 216 appearances for the Bees, finding the net 12 times. He was in the final year of his contract with the West London club.

Expressing his excitement, Pinnock stated, "I'm really excited to join Coventry City and continue my footballing journey with this great club." He added, "After 25 years, the club are back in the Premier League, and I know how much it must mean to everyone involved. I can't wait to be part of it."

Pinnock played a key role in Brentford's promotion to the Premier League but featured only eight times in all competitions last season. He joins former teammate Frank Onyeka in moving from Brentford to Coventry this summer. This marks Coventry's 10th signing of the summer, with the club's spending exceeding £100m, and Pinnock is their second defensive reinforcement following Aurele Amenda's arrival in July.

Why this matters: Coventry City, newly returned to the Premier League, continues to invest significantly in its squad, with total summer spending now over £100m.
