The Debian project has officially voted to allow its contributors to utilise artificial intelligence tools in their coding processes. This decision comes with the stipulation that while the use of AI is permitted, disclosing its use is optional for contributors.
A key condition of this new policy is that the quality of the code produced, regardless of whether AI tools were employed, must remain mandatory.
