UK-based telecoms and software company ConnexAI is facing allegations from a US law firm that its AI systems and software failed to perform as claimed, and that the contract was unlawfully renewed. ConnexAI has denied these allegations, which are part of an ongoing dispute involving two court cases.
DK Law, a personal injury specialist in California, filed a complaint in April, alleging that ConnexAI's telephone system and AI software solution did not offer the promised functionality. The firm also claims ConnexAI continued to send invoices after being informed the year-long contract would not be renewed.
ConnexAI had previously filed its own complaint in March 2026 in a New York court, alleging that DK Law had breached its contract by failing to pay invoices. Dan Richardson, ConnexAI general manager of North America, stated that the allegations made by DK Law were raised after ConnexAI initiated legal proceedings.
According to DK Law's California filing, the telephone system frequently experienced outages, dropped calls, and misrouting. The firm also alleged that WhatsApp integration was unreliable, and that AI transcription, particularly for Spanish language, did not work as represented.
DK Law's CTO, Brendan Haverlock, reportedly informed ConnexAI that the contract would not be renewed after its October 2025 expiry. However, ConnexAI's New York filing states the agreement renewed for a subsequent term commencing October 8, 2025. DK Law alleges this automatic renewal was not in accordance with New York State law, which requires advance written notice.
Last week, on August 27, the California court stayed DK Law's claim, meaning it is on hold pending the resolution of the New York case. DK Law is seeking to have the New York case dismissed.
