Deportivo La Coruña, once a significant force in Spanish football, have returned to La Liga after being absent since 2018. The Galician club, who won the title in 1999 and finished in the top three nine times between 1993 and 2004, secured automatic promotion last term.
Deportivo had previously dropped into the regional third tier in 2020, taking four years to return to the second division before their recent leap. The club has shown ambition by signing Mallorca keeper Leo Román and veteran striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
They are not alone in their return, as Segunda champions Racing Santander are also back in the top flight after a 15-year absence. Málaga, another club that fell into the third tier in 2023-24, will also be returning to La Liga.
