England's interim head coach, Marcus Trescothick, has stated his determination to achieve a 3-0 series sweep against Pakistan in the upcoming final Test of the summer. Despite already securing the series win by beating Pakistan at Lord's, Trescothick plans to avoid changes to the winning formula.
Trescothick indicated that the most likely reason for a lineup change would be player fatigue. However, he noted that Pakistan's innings in the two wins have been relatively short, with an average of 43.3 overs this summer, compared to India's 107.5 overs last summer. Additionally, winning the second Test on day four provides the players with nine clear days before the action resumes at Edgbaston.
Trescothick emphasised his desire to win the series 3-0 and play the most consistent team possible, while also considering player recovery. He mentioned the team's four-pronged seam attack of Ollie Robinson, Jofra Archer, Josh Tongue, and Gus Atkinson, expressing belief that they will become more potent with increased time playing together.
