Glentoran are on the hunt for a new manager after Declan Devine's departure from the east Belfast club, just six games into the Irish Premiership campaign. Devine's two-and-a-half-year tenure concluded following a challenging start to the season.
During his time at the Oval, the 54-year-old manager secured silverware, guiding Glentoran to County Antrim Shield success in the 2024-25 season. However, he was unable to end the club's 17-year wait for league success.
Among the potential contenders to replace Devine, former Larne and Derry City manager Tiernan Lynch has been widely considered a favourite. Lynch won consecutive Irish Premiership titles with Larne and served as Glentoran's assistant manager between 2012 and 2016.
Rodney McAree, who previously managed Glentoran for five months, is also a consideration. He secured European football for the club in 2022-23 and later led Dungannon Swifts to their first-ever Irish Cup. Cliftonville boss Jim Magilton, Gary Hamilton, Tim McCann, and Mick McDermott are also mentioned as possible candidates for the role.
