Ian McKellen and Roger Allam are reprising their roles in the film adaptation of Ben Weatherill's stage play, 'Frank and Percy'. Sean Mathias, who directed the original play, also directs the expanded movie version.
The film, adapted by screenwriter Martin Sherman, tells a story of later-life romance. Allam plays Frank, a retired history teacher, while McKellen portrays Percy, an academic sociologist and climate scientist.
Joanna Lumley features as Belinda, Frank's sister-in-law, who is depicted as an elegant woman suffering from early onset dementia. Stephen Fry also appears as Percy's ex-partner, and Ncuti Gatwa and Hugh Skinner have cameo roles.
