US rap superstar Jay-Z delivered his first headline solo performance in the UK in over a decade at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Friday night. The show, which lasted more than two hours, was the first of two scheduled London dates this weekend and featured a celebration of hip-hop culture.

The evening saw several surprise guest appearances. London-born rapper Giggs joined Jay-Z on stage, performing his track 'Talkin Da Hardest'. Later, Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean, from the 90s hip-hop collective Fugees, reunited to perform hits including 'Ready or Not' and 'Killing Me Softly With His Song'. British actor Sir Idris Elba also opened the show, performing the intro track to Jay-Z's 2007 album, 'American Gangster'.

The concert is part of Jay-Z's 'Jay-Z 30' tour, which commemorates the 30th anniversary of his debut album, 'Reasonable Doubt'. During the show, Jay-Z acknowledged his wife Beyoncé's 45th birthday, asking the crowd to sing 'Happy Birthday' to her as she watched from a private box.
