Jonathan Glazer's 2013 film, 'Under the Skin', will be shown at London's ICA Cinema on October 24. The screening is part of The Independent’s 'Celebrating Free Thinkers' festival, which marks the publication's 40th anniversary.
The film, which stars Scarlett Johansson, is an adaptation of Michel Faber's 2000 novel. Glazer's interpretation of the story features Johansson as a nameless alien in Glasgow, with sparse dialogue and absent explanations.
For the movie, Glazer employed hidden cameras and incorporated real members of the public, who were sometimes unaware they were being filmed. Johansson, speaking with an English accent, would interact with passers-by and men she picked up in a van, with Glazer communicating instructions via an earpiece.
