Mike Goldberg, co-creator of the 'Life Is Strange' series, has stated that the upcoming live-action adaptation will "disappoint" some gamers. The adaptation, announced last year by Amazon Prime Video, will be written by Charlie Covell, who will also serve as executive producer and showrunner.
The original 2015 action puzzle game allows players to dictate the story's outcome through their decisions. However, the television series will not offer the same freedom, requiring creators to select a single narrative path. Goldberg, a co-founder and producer at Story Kitchen, noted on the In The Lab podcast that "No matter how we skin the cat, we’re going to disappoint people who may have chosen something different."
The show will follow Max, a photography student who discovers she can rewind time, and her childhood best friend, Chloe, as they investigate a student's disappearance. The team, working closely with Square Enix, has ensured that Covell played through the entire 'Life Is Strange' franchise. The first season is due to begin shooting this month, with Goldberg expressing hope for more seasons to adapt other stories within the franchise.
