Lisa O’Neill performed a rendition of ‘Old Note’ at Glen Hansard’s funeral, held yesterday, Tuesday, August 4, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin. She was joined by former Frames members Colm Mac Con Iomaire, Joseph Doyle, and Michael Buckley.

The performance was particularly notable as O’Neill and Hansard had performed the same track at Shane MacGowan’s memorial service three years prior in 2023.

Hansard, 56, died last Wednesday, July 29, following a motorcycle crash in Dublin. He was known as the frontman of The Frames and an Oscar-winning star of the film 'Once'.

Other musical tributes at the service included performances by Colm Mac Con Iomaire and Liam Ó Maonlaí, and Eddie Vedder and Markéta Irglová, who performed ‘The Song of Good Hope’. Bono also delivered a spoken word version of U2’s ‘A Beautiful Day’.

Hansard’s family requested donations to the Dublin Simon Community or Ukrainian Action in lieu of flowers or gifts. Hansard was a long-standing supporter of the Dublin Simon Community, having started their annual Christmas Eve busking event in Dublin in 2010.
